SHELTON — As the school year ends so does the career of John Skerritt. Skerritt, an educator for some two decades and most recently principal at Shelton Intermediate School, has announced his retirement effective at the end of the school year. The Board of Education appointed Douglas Cucchiarelli to fill the post at its meeting Wednesday. 'I am ready,' Skerritt said about his decision to retire. 'My decision to step away now is so that I can enjoy my retirement in good health. 'Over the years, the job has changed so much and has become increasingly stressful,' Skerritt said.
